SERVICES

1. Initial Eligiblity Assessment - $500 We will go over all assets owned by applicant and/or spouse.  Eligibility for Long-Term Care is based on assets.  If you are not eligible for MassHealth, we will provide you with a strategy to reach eligibility.

2. Document gathering and organization- MassHealth requires an overwhelming amount of paperwork to establish eligibilty.  We help navigate you through requesting the proper paperwork needed to prove your eligiblity.  Whether you need MassHealth now or in the future we can provide tips for keeping necessary documentation in an organized manor.

3. Application completion- We complete all MassHealth forms on your behalf.

4. Look-Back period analysis - you must submit 60 months of all asset statements with your application.  We will review your finances over the last 60 months.  Certain activity can create a penalty period.  A penalty period is applied to first eligibility date and prevents payment through a specific time frame.  For example, if there was $5,000 transferred for less than fair market value the state would not pay on your behalf for 12 days.  We will provide strategies for curing these transfers or accepting the penalty.  Confirming there are no potential penalties is important if you are trying to enter a nursing home.

5. Responding to MassHealth Requests for Information- Once you submit your initial application, MassHealth issues an RFI or a Request For Information.  The RFI assigns your caseworker who specifies what documents they are going to require.

6. Guidance on Appeals-   Most cases require at least one appeal.  We will request appeal and attend appeal on your behalf.

7. Ongoing case management -  MassHealth conducts yearly reviews and requires updates on any changes to your assets and income be reported with in 10 days.  We can provide assistance throughout the lifetime of your MassHealth eligiblity.

Costs:  Application process including everything above is $5,000.  The assessment is due at the time of appointment and will go towards the application fee if you hire us within 3 months.

Eligibility

A single individual is eligible when all their assets are below $2,000.00. A married couple is eligible when all their combined assets are below $159,920.00. When you leave our consult you will have a step-by-step guide to reduce your assets without jeopardizing MassHealth benefits. You also receive a detailed list of documents needed to process the application.  Failure to provide the correct documentation to the state will result in a denial.

Yearly Reviews

After an individual has received MassHealth the family will have to complete a yearly review.  We can either complete reviews on your behalf throughout your MassHealth eligiblity OR we can teach you how to complete a review.
